2025, Corn husk braid, water, plaster

My performance works with time, body, and remanence to encompass and create a space to reflect my family through corn and body casting. Through the physical experience of casting my nose I aim to pay tribute to my families features and generational sacrifice.

Mano De Obra, Performance and Installation in PLAySPACE Gallery,
2025, Corn Husk, Nails, Wood, Natural Dye
Mano De Obra materializes labor and love through Hispanic culture and food. Just as Zamora braids strands of corn together in the performance, Manos De Obra weaves themes of labor, sacrifice, culture, place, and tender familial practices. Audio recordings accompany Zamora as she braids, splicing the sounds of her family’s journey from Mexico to America with sounds from the streets of SF’s Mission District. Both a performance and an installation. the corn husks carry symbolic weight in Zamora’s physical absence.
