Mi Ofrenda-Frutas Prohibidas, 2024
Corn Husk, Wax, Fabric, Wire, Found objects & Materials
While searching for my existence, I found sadness in the symbolism of my mother's wedding
veil. With the knowledge of something that could never be deemed mine from religion and
family, I created my own. Created with the material care and comfort of corn husks, I ask my
viewers to submit themselves to my offering. In the only city I can be myself, I ask you to take
your shoes off before my family's prayers and lift the veil I can't wear as my family's daughter.
Underneath my veil, you are granted an entrance to my offering for the two girls who love each
other. My installation was built by community and experience from The Queer Cultural Center, I
thank my cohort and QCC for supporting me through my installation.
